I often lead this type of workshop, notably in 2019, for "Lumiere d’Encre" in Ceret, in two school workshops in Port-Vendres, one at the Louis Pasteur primary school and the other at the Cote Vermeille secondary school. I also taught photography, cinema and video for ten years (2000-2010) at the Albaron primary school in Camargue and in 2010 in India at the Tibetan Children's Village in Mc Leod Ganj (in English).
EDUCATIONAL CONCEPT
Children, like the general audience of a few years ago, do not necessarily associate photographs with works of art. It seems to them that art is painting and that painting is art. Because photography is a mechanical reproduction of reality, a photograph would be an objective evidence.
These two beliefs will be questioned by practice and not by philosophical reflection. Children will see for themselves that one “makes” a photographic image just as much as one “takes” it. They will thus discover that photography stems from a project, that is to say from an intention.
The goal of these workshops is that children, knowing an image is a construction, will be much less gullible in front of advertising or politics.
